REMINDER: Artistic Research Working Group Activities at PSi #30: XXX - Cruzo, Cruising, Crossroads
Gathering: 11 - 15 December 2025
Submissions due 26 September 2025!
The PSi Artistic Research Working Group held a terrific online event this past June, and now we’re building momentum towards our 2025 in-person activities at PSi’s 30th annual gathering in Fortaleza, Brazil this December.
The ARWG will draw upon the conference’s complex and deeply evocative “XXX” theme to further experiment with our evolving framework of performative offerings and responses. We invite our members to meet at the intersection(s) of their practice(s) and to engage, reframe and rearticulate one another’s preoccupations.
How it will work:
1) Prior to the conference, each participant is invited to offer a current artistic research preoccupation: a problem, a dilemma, a puzzle, a conundrum, a ‘pickle,' a Gordian knot – a question that they are exploring through their practice.
2) These preoccupations will then be ‘swapped,’ with each participant taking on another participant’s offering to be reframed and rearticulated through their own mode(s) of practice.
Our activities in Brazil will take the form of these responses. As a respondent, you’re asked to identify and interpret your partner’s preoccupation and to meaningfully engage with it through a short (maximum 8 minutes) expression of your own artistic practice.
Important Dates:
· 26 September 2025: submission of 250 – 300 word description of a current Artistic Research preoccupation; additional materials such as images and links to online video/audio are welcomed and encouraged
· 10 October 2025: redistribution of submitted preoccupations by ARWG convenors
· 11-15 December 2025: in-person/onsite sharing of reframed preoccupation responses in Fortaleza, Brazil
All preoccupation submissions should be sent to arwgpsi@gmail.com by the due date. Questions or clarifications? Same address.
Please note: participation in the December 11-15 gathering requires PSi membership and conference registration. (The deadline for early bird Conference registration rates is Sept. 15, 2025.)
